Wreck details for the vessel Moorish Idol located at coordinates 51 12.034 N 1 27.896 E off the coast of Dover in the English Channel. This underwater obstruction was historically reported in the area but multiple hydrographic surveys and search operations including magnetometer sweeps and multibeam sonar datasets have failed to locate any wreckage. Following extensive investigation by maritime authorities and marine survey contractors the wreck of the Moorish Idol is officially classified as dead or non-existent in this position. The site currently presents no hazard to navigation and no structural remains have been identified at these coordinates.

SEP 2019/000022679 25.6.19 NOT LOCATED IN M/B DATASET (2019). (CLINTON MARINE SURVEY AB, HI1585). NFA.

Circumstances of loss

STARTED TAKING IN WATER. WAS ANCHORED AND THEN ABANDONED IN A SINKING CONDITION. COULD NOT BE FOUND NEXT DAY. PRESUMED TO HAVE SUNK IN OR NEAR ANCHORING POSN.
