Surveying Details SINKING POSN GIVEN AS 365000N, 111000E. (ALLIED WARSHIP CASUALTIES MED. FEBUARY 1952). POSN TOO VAGUE TO CHART. 14.10.02 HAD BEEN HIT IN THE ENGINE-ROOM. 15 MEN LOST. CAPTAIN HARALD DREW WAS COURT-MARTIALLED FOR SCUTTLING THE SHIP. WK EXAMINED BY DIVERS IN 2002. DESCRIBED AS: THERE WAS A GIGANTIC BREAK IN THE SHIP'S SIDE & DECK AFT IN THE ENGINE-ROOM AREA. A 10MTR SECTION OF THE SHIP'S SIDE HAD BEEN BLOWN AWAY & THE DECKING ABOVE HAD ALSO GONE. LOOKING IN, TWO PROP SHAFTS COULD BE SEEN, BOTH SHATTERED. (DIVER MAGAZINE, OCT 2002). NCA.

GEARED TURBINES OF 82500 SHP, QUADRUPLE SHAFTS GAVE 32.5KNOTS. 12 X 6 INCH, 8 X 4 INCH AA, 8 X 2 PDR & 8 X 0.5 INCH MACHINE GUNS. 6 X 21 INCH TORPEDO TUBES. 3 AIRCRAFT, 1 CATAPULT. ATTACKED BY GUNFIRE & TORPEDO BY ITALIAN E-BOATS WHILST ON OPERATION 'PEDESTAL' & FOUNDERED OFF KELIBIA ROADS, TUNISIA. HAD BEEN HIT IN THE ENGINE-ROOM. CAPTAIN HARALD DREW WAS COURT-MARTIALLED FOR SCUTTLING THE SHIP. 403 OF SHIPS COMPLEMENT INTERNED BY THE FRENCH, 15 MEN LOST. (DODS, ALLIED WARSHIP CASUALTIES MED. FEB 1952 & DIVER MAGAZINE, OCT 2002).
