Underwater Wreck Site Details for the shipwreck located at 51 12.237 N, 1 26.221 E off the coast of Deal, Kent, UK. This submerged wreck is situated in the English Channel near the Goodwin Sands area. The site was most recently surveyed in May 2019, revealing a highly degraded hull structure measuring approximately 90.84 meters in length and 31.76 meters in width. While the main hull rests at a depth of 9.99 meters, a least depth of 6.15 meters has been recorded, likely caused by protruding masts or anchor chains at the bow and aft sections. The wreck displays a large cylindrical shape in the midsection and sits within a general seabed depth of 14.20 meters. A significant scour area measuring 26.6 meters by 69.8 meters is present around the site. Previous surveys dating back to 1996 confirmed a strong magnetic anomaly and a solid sonar contact, indicating a substantial metallic structure. This site is charted as an underwater obstruction requiring caution for maritime navigation in the vicinity of Deal Pier.
