Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater shipwreck survey details for uncharted wreck located near South Georgia Island in the South Atlantic Ocean at coordinates 54 09.812 S, 36 40.878 W. This intact and upright vessel lies at right angles to the contours in a general depth of 72 meters with a least multibeam depth of 64.8 meters. The structural description includes a length of 48 meters, width of 12 meters, and a height of 8 meters, oriented at 145/325 degrees with bows facing southeast. Features a 30cm deep scour running 145 degrees from the bows, possibly caused by a mooring line to the shore. Identified as likely being a whaler due to its proximity to an abandoned whaling station, and inserted as a 64-meter wreck on charts following an examination by HMS Protector in 2013.

INTACT, UPRIGHT. 30CM DEEP SCOUR RUNS 145 DEGS FROM THE BOWS , POSSIBLY CAUSED BY A LINE WHICH MOORED THE VESSEL TO THE SHORE. LIES AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE CONTOURS. PROBABLY A WHALER AS CLOSE TO THE ABANDONED WHALING STATION. (HMS PROTECTOR, SNT 05-13). INS AS WK 64MTRS.
