Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck of the vessel Marieva (probably) is located at coordinates 36 42.625 N, 5 6.987 E. Originally sinking in February 1984 near a port breakwater at a depth of 14 meters with its superstructure visible above the water level, the wreck underwent various survey reports and positional updates throughout 1984 and 1985 as salvage possibilities were examined and it was declared a constructive total loss. By May 1986, only the masts were reported showing at a height of 10 meters, and subsequent cartographic updates through 2002 continued to document the obstruction in the area.

Circumstances of loss
VESSEL, BUILT 1967 BY KANASASHI ZOSENSHO, SHIMIZU. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY SEA CLOVER SHIPPING CORP. WAS ON PASSAGE HUELVA TO PIRAEUS. GRADUALLY SANK AT ANCHORAGE OFF BEJAIA AFTER A LEAKAGE HAD DEVELOPED IN HER HOLD TWO DAYS EARLIER. ALL 22 CREW RESCUED. (MSD).
