Simplified Wreck Survey
The Charlotte shipwreck is a historical underwater obstruction located off the coast of the River Tees at coordinates 54.6443 N, 1.1325 W, near the South Gare breakwater in North East England. Originally reported as a vessel that broke up shortly after wrecking, historical surveys described the remains as a spread of bottom timbers, iron coamings, winch pipes, and chains covering an area approximately 300ft by 200ft along the slope of the slag mole. While early hydrographic records noted the wreck dried at 0.9 meters, subsequent aerial surveys by the Royal Navy in 1977 and high-resolution multibeam sonar datasets collected between 2017 and 2018 found no visible evidence of the wreckage. The site is currently classified as NFA (No Further Action) as the structure is no longer detectable on the seabed.

LIES SPREAD ABOUT IN THE SLOPE OF THE MOLE LYING ON THE SLAG MOLE 0.26MILES 128DEGS FROM SOUTH GARE LIGHT. (TEES CONSERVANCY, 20.12.29). 30.12.71 AMEND ST DRIES 0.9MTR. NC 2566.
