Simplified Wreck Survey
The wreck of the fishing vessel Cathy Colleen was historically reported as sunk in the English Channel near the Goodwin Sands off the coast of Kent. The reported position of the obstruction is 51 19.967 N, 1 38.095 E. The vessel was described as a fiber glass construction with no mast. Despite initial reports following its sinking on March 15, 1982, multiple hydrographic surveys have been conducted to locate the wreckage. A 1995 survey by HMS Beagle failed to find any trace of the vessel, leading to its status being amended to dead. Further examinations in 2014 by CEFAS and a multi-beam survey conducted by Gardline between 2017 and 2018 also confirmed that nothing was found at the site. Consequently, the wreck of the Cathy Colleen is currently classified as not located.
