Wreck GAUPEN is a historical underwater obstruction located off the coast of North Foreland in the English Channel at coordinates 51 21.034 N, 1 35.895 E. The vessel GAUPEN sank in March 1918 following a reported incident near the North Goodwin Buoy. Subsequent hydrographic surveys and investigations throughout the 20th and 21st centuries have failed to locate the remains of the ship. While initial reports placed the wreck near North Foreland, specialized sonar searches conducted by HMS Egeria in 1979 and multibeam surveys by Gardline in 2017-2018 resulted in no wreckage being found. The site is currently classified as dead, meaning the wreck has not been located or confirmed on modern charts.
