Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck of the Windward Trader is located underwater off the coast of Leixoes, Portugal, at coordinates 41 11.1 N, 8 41.8 W. Historical survey records show the vessel capsized while loading in No. 1 Dock at Leixoes on May 29, 1980, and floated upside-down until sinking on June 5, 1980. Following years of salvage tenders and operations, the wreck was successfully refloated in January 1986 to be broken up.
