Simplified Wreck Survey

The wreck known as SANDHEAP is located at 50 39.451 N, 1 56.549 W in Studland Bay. Historical records identify the site as the remains of a barge that was driven ashore and came to rest on an even keel broadside to the beach. Although initially charted as a structural wreck, subsequent surveys, including multi-beam sonar and magnetometer scans conducted in 2012, failed to locate any remains, leading to reports that the barge may have been salvaged or recovered years ago. The wreck site is currently designated as non-existent or cleared.
