Wreck Details for Sparsholt located at coordinates 51 26.748 N, 0 46.63 E in the Medway Estuary near Sheerness. This underwater obstruction, historically identified as the wreck Sparsholt, has undergone significant changes since its original location in 1946. Initial surveys identified dispersed portions of the wreck drying 6 feet at MLWS. Following extensive salvage operations by the RFA Swin in the 1960s, most wreckage was recovered. Subsequent maritime surveys in 1992 indicated that a drying bank had extended over the original position. A comprehensive 2017 hydrographic survey of the site confirmed an unidentified object and three smaller debris items at 51 26.748 N, 0 46.63 E. The current structural description of this foul area includes a small object with a least multi-beam depth drying 0.248 meters, with a physical length of 2 meters, width of 1.4 meters, and height of 0.3 meters. The seabed in this area consists of mud with a scouring effect noted at the site. The wreck site is currently charted as a foul drying 0.3 meters.
