LEFT CASABLANCA TO ENGAGE US FORCES DURING ALLIED LANDINGS. VESSEL WAS HIT REPEATED BY US HEAVY CRUISERS AUGUSTA & BROOKLYN. BADLY DAMAGED SHE STEAMED BACK INTO CASABLANCA ONLY TIO BE HIT BY BOMBS FROM US CARRIER RANGER'S AIRCRAFT. VESSEL WAS FORCED TO BEACH. 35 OF 578 COMPLEMENT LOST.
