Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck SANDYMAR I was an abandoned vessel located in the outer harbour of Casablanca, Morocco, at coordinates 33 36.182 N, 7 35.417 W. Initially reported aground and laid up in 1987, the wreck was a steel vessel measuring approximately 110 meters in length, oriented on a 062/242 degree axis. Throughout the late 1980s, the ship remained abandoned as it never fully covered at high tide. Following its sale for scrap, demolition operations for the SANDYMAR I were officially completed in April 1993, at which point the obstruction was removed from navigational charts.
