Circumstances of loss
BUILT IN 1940 BY W SIMONS & CO., WAS TORPEDOED BY ENEMY SUBMARINE OFF BOUGIE WITH THE LOSS OF THREE OFFICERS AND 42 RATINGS. (DODS). VESSEL, BUILT APRIL 1941 BY SMITHS DK, WAS SUNK BY U-BOAT IN THE MEDITERRANEAN. (COLLEGE). VESSEL WAS TORPEDOED BY GERMAN SUBMARINE U-596 30M NE OF BOUGIE WITH FOUR SURVIVORS BEING RESCUED BY HMS ZETLAND. (WARSHIP LOSSES WWII). VESSEL, ON PASSAGE FROM GIBRALTAR TO NORTH AFRICAN PORTS ESCORTING CONVOY TE14, WAS TORPEDOED AND SUNK BY ITALIAN SUBMARINE 'PLATINO' NEAR BOUGIE. (THE WAR AT SEA WWII & AXIS SUBMARINE SUCCESSES).
