Simplified Wreck Survey

Historical shipwreck record for HMS P12 possibly the bow section located at coordinates 50 40.285 N, 1 5.587 W off the coast in the UK tidal beach area. Originally reported on November 5 1971 as part of an old wreck exposed on the beach initially believed to be a World War 1 destroyer named Boxer. On March 26 1976 reidentified as possibly the bows of Royal Navy patrol boat HMS P12. On September 21 1983 records show the wreckage was removed from the beach by a mechanical digger hired by the Whitecliff Holiday Camp proprietor and moved above the high water mark for total removal following the discovery of ammunition dealt with by the Coastguard bomb disposal team.

POSN 504015N, 010530W [OGB] FOR FILING ONLY. 26.3.76 NOW THOUGHT POSSIBLY TO BE BOWS OF H.M. PATROL BOAT P12. (MR PEARCE). NCA. 21.9.83 WKGE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM BEACH BY MECHANICAL DIGGER HIRED BY WHITECLIFF HOLIDAY CAMP PROPRIETOR. NOW LIES ABOVE HWL AND WILL BE TOTALLY REMOVED. AMMUNITION WAS FOUND AND THIS WAS DEALT WITH BY CDT. (D BROWN, NHB TELECON). AMENDED TO LIFT.
