Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck of the Harry Sharman is located near Sandown Bay at coordinates 50 39.83 N, 1 6.289 W. Declared a constructive total loss in January 1971, historical survey reports note that the vessel is positioned close to the Yarborough Monument. Surveys conducted in 1986 and subsequent years indicate that most of the superstructure and decking have collapsed, with the boiler drying at low water. The wreck points outward like a pier from the shoreline and has been described as a potential hazard to small boats while offering a good shallow dive opportunity for divers.
