Circumstances of loss

BUILT OF WOOD IN 1856 IN KINKARDINE. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY WRIGHT & CO. PASSAGE PENAG FOR LONDON. MET WITH SEVERE WEATHER WHICH DELAYED HOMEWARD PASSAGE BY THREE WEEKS AND WAS VERY SHORT OF PROVISIONS. ENCOUNTERED THICK WEATHER FROM START POINT AND WAS UNABLE TO CHECK POSN, OTHER THAN BY SOUNDINGS. STRUCK THE OWERS AND WAS HOLED. VESSEL WAS ABANDONED AND CREW CAME ASHORE AT WORTHING. (SIBI).
