Simplified Wreck Survey
The Amsterdam is a historically significant shipwreck located off the coast of Hastings, East Sussex, England. The wreck lies in the English Channel at coordinates 50 50.814 N, 0 31.459 E. This maritime site is a protected area under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973. Survey data confirmed in 2013 identifies the wreck as measuring 48.8 meters in length, 14.7 meters in width, and 1.0 meter in height. The vessel is oriented on a 146/326-degree axis with the bow facing northwest. The site features a scour 1.3 meters deep on the eastern side and a least depth that dries 2.14 meters in a general depth that dries 0.8 meters. The Amsterdam remains a subject of ongoing archaeological interest due to its status as a largely intact vessel from the upper gun deck down, situated within the shallow coastal waters of the East Sussex seabed.
