Simplified Wreck Survey

The wreckage of a USAF F111 aircraft is located off the coast of the Moray Firth, Scotland, at coordinates 57 52.281 N, 3 57.085 W. This underwater obstruction consists of the remains of an aircraft lost in an incident during the late 1970s. The site occupies an approximate seabed area of 50 by 100 feet. The structure includes a prominent tail section resting on its side in 30 feet of water, with a control aileron protruding approximately 10 feet above the seabed. The wreckage is partially silted and subject to sinking into the seabed, with historical records noting the site as foul. While originally slated for reduction to seabed level, the remains are recognized as a maritime aviation site. Researchers and mariners should treat these coordinates as a known underwater obstruction.
