Simplified Wreck Survey

The underwater wreck of the coaster Traute Sarnow is located off Gurnards Head in Cornwall at coordinates 50 11.501 N, 5 35.81 W. Originally reported as a wreck in 1954, historical Royal Navy surveys note that the wreckage largely disintegrated over time, with remaining metal removed by a local scrap dealer. A subsequent magnetometer survey in 2011 confirmed the site remains part of the local marine and coastal records.

BUILT IN 1951 BY MASCHNENB. ANSTRALT, FLENSBURG. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY HEINRICH SARNOW. 8 CYLINDER OIL ENGINE, SINGLE SHAFT. PASSAGE CARFIFF FOR OSTEND. WENT AGROUND IN THICK MIST ON THE E SIDE OF GURNARDS HEAD. NO LIVES LOST. (SIBI).
