Simplified Wreck Survey

The historic shipwreck SPEEDWELL is located in the North Sea off the coast of Lowestoft with recorded coordinates of 52 30 N, 02 5 E. Historical records and naval monographs have previously associated the wreck of the SPEEDWELL with these coordinates near the Lowestoft coastline. While early sinking reports placed the vessel approximately 20 meters east of Lowestoft, subsequent marine surveys in 2017 including multibeam echosounder data from the Gardline HI 1516 dataset failed to locate the wreckage at this specific site. Consequently, the wreck status of the SPEEDWELL at these coordinates is currently listed as dead or non-existent in modern survey records.
