The shipwreck PROVIDENCE is located off the coast of Whitby at coordinates 54 32.11 N, 0 34.035 W. Historical hydrographic survey records indicate this site was originally identified following a sinking incident 3 miles from the Whitby Harbour entrance. While the wreck was documented in past nautical charts and regional listings, subsequent high-resolution marine surveys conducted in 1989 and 2016 failed to locate any remains or structural wreckage at this position. The site is currently classified as non-existent or cleared, with no seabed obstruction currently identified by modern sonar systems at these coordinates.
