Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Privet is an underwater obstruction located in the Irish Sea near the entrance to Dublin Bay, approximately 1 mile southeast of the Poolbeg Lighthouse. The wreck sits at coordinates 53 19.771 N, 6 8.162 W. Originally identified as a half-decked wooden fishing vessel, the site is significantly broken up. Survey data indicates the wreck measures 9.5 meters in length, 3.5 meters in width, and has a height of 2 meters. While initial reports identified a least depth of 2.4 meters in a general water depth of 5.4 meters, subsequent surveys have noted the site as difficult to locate, suggesting the remains are severely degraded or buried. The wreckage formerly featured exposed engine components, a collapsed wheelhouse, and trawling gear extending 20 meters from the stern. All maritime traffic should exercise caution when navigating the vicinity of these coordinates.
