This intact underwater obstruction is identified as a motor vessel with its engine aft and a cargo of coal. The wreck lies upright on the seabed oriented at 095/275 degrees with its bow facing east, resting in a general water depth of 64 meters with a least multibeam echo sounder depth of 53.4 meters. Structural measurements recorded from marine surveys show the wreck has a length of 104 meters, a width of 30 meters, and a height of 10.6 meters, accompanied by a strong magnetic anomaly and debris scattered close to the northwest. Historical survey records note that the identity of the shipwreck was confirmed in October 1995 when a ship's bell bearing the name Maria de Larrinaga was recovered from the site.
