CARDIFF TO VERA CRUZ & CARRING A CARGO OF RAILWAY TRACK & WHEEL BARROWS, SPRANG A LEAK ABOUT 10MILES EAST OF THE LIZARD & MADE FOR LAND. SOME OF THE CREW, FEARING FOR THEIR LIVES, ABANDONED SHIP LEAVING THE MASTER & MATE ONBOARD. THE MASTER REFUSED THE ASSISTANCE OF OTHER VESSELS, CLAIMING THAT THE SHIP WAS 'BEYOND HELP', THE VESSEL SUBSEQUENTLY FOUNDED IN 4956.55N, 054845W [OGB]. (SIBI VOL 1).
