Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck of the MAINDY HILL is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of Hartlepool in the North Sea at coordinates 54 41.925 N, 1 9.348 W. This vessel was lost following a collision in 1940. While the site was historically marked by various light buoys for maritime navigation, subsequent surveys indicate the wreck was dispersed in 1947 to a depth of 46 feet below chart datum. Extensive modern seabed surveys conducted in 2017 and 2018 failed to locate any significant wreckage at the position, leading to the wreck being classified as dead or non-existent. The site is currently charted as foul ground where the remains have been cleared below the level of the surrounding seafloor.
