Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck of the Loch Fergus is located off the east coast of Ireland in the Irish Sea at coordinates 53 14.82 N, 6 6.46 W, approximately 150 meters offshore. Discovered in May 1990, the vessel lies in a general depth of 4 to 5 meters on a rocky bottom oriented east-west with the bow facing west. The wreck is completely flattened, featuring remaining portions of bottom sheeting and rib structure standing up to 1.2 meters above the seabed. The wreckage spans an approximate area of 65 by 10 meters, with a mast located some distance away. Due to its condition and depth, the site poses no hazard to navigation.

COMPLETELY FLATTENED WITH ONLY SMALL PORTIONS OF BOTTOM SHEETING AND RIB STRUCTURE SEEN, STANDING UP TO 1.2MTRS ABOVE SEABED. ON A ROCKY BOTTOM AND APPARENTLY NO HAZARD TO NAVIGATION. EXTENT OF WRECKAGE 65 X 10MTRS, APPROX, WITH ONE MAST FOUND SOME DISTANCE AWAY. (FOR AUTHORITY SEE FILE). INS AS NDW. BR STD.

WENT ASHORE NEAR OLD STATION, KILLINEY BAY, DURING SSE GALE AND HEAVY SEAS. WAS ON PASSAGE GLASGOW FOR BRISBANE.
