Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck Lampada was historically recorded off the coast of Whitby, North Yorkshire, near the area known as Baymans Hole. While early hydrographic records identified a potential obstruction at coordinates 54 32.51 N, 0 30.102 W, subsequent modern multibeam sonar surveys conducted in 2016 and 1989 failed to locate any wreckage at this position. Because multiple deep-sea investigations found no underwater structure, the status of the Lampada wreck at these coordinates is officially recorded as dead and the obstruction has been removed from nautical charts.
