The historic shipwreck of the steamer Lady Cory-Wright is located off the coast of England south-southwest of The Lizard at approximate coordinates 49 43.538 N, 5 15.061 W. Sunk during World War I, this underwater obstruction has a history of hydrographic surveys dating from 1978 through 1989, noting sonar contacts and depth measurements before being marked as dead and deleted from active charts following area searches by HMS Bulldog.

BUILT IN 1906 BY S P AUSTIN & SON AND OWNED AT THE TIME OF LOSS BY CORY COLLIERS, WAS TORPEDOED AND SUNK BY GERMAN SUBMARINE UC-17 14M SSW FROM THE LIZARD. WAS ON PASSAGE PLYMOUTH TO MALTA. 39 LIVES LOST. (LL WW1, WW1SL, DODS & SHIPWRECK INDEX OF THE BRITISH ISLES). CARGO INCLUDED 370 DEPTH CHARGES TYPE D, 1000 PRIMERS B.E., 2100 DETONATORS TORPEDO AND 2762 MINES, SPHERICAL. (A C CROTHALL). TORPEDOED BY GERMAN SUBMARINE UC-17. (DER KRIEG ZUR SEE).
