27.7.1690 BUILT IN 1678 AT CHARTHAM DOCKYARD BY PHINEAS PETT II. A THIRD-RATE SHIP. DAMAGED SEVERELY AT THE BATTLE OF BEACHY HEAD (27.7.1690) AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEACHED IN RYE BAY. WAS SET ALIGHT TO PREVENT CAPTURE. SHE WAS THE ONLY BRITISH LOSS IN THE BATTLE. WAS EXTENSIVELY SALVAGED AND ALL ORDNANCE REMOVED. A FAILIED ATTEMPT WAS MADE BY THE ADMIRALTY TO SELL THE BURNT REMAINS (SRN & EH).
