Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck known as the Deborah D is located off the coast of Guyana near the Corentyn River at coordinates 6 1.65 N, 57 8.77 W. Initially running aground approximately one mile from the Guyana coastline on March 4, 1981, the vessel was subsequently gutted, left lying on its side, and abandoned as a non-hazardous wreck that would not be removed. Historical survey records from the UK Hydrographic Office note that the wreck provides a strong radar return at twenty miles and has been fitted with a radar reflector, making it a useful navigational landmark for daylight approaches where channel buoys are difficult to spot against coastal trees and vegetation.

BUILT IN 1964 BY LODOSE VARF A/B, LODOSE. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY DEBORAH MARITIME CORP. WAS BADLY DAMAGED BY FIRE IN CARTON STOWAGE HATCHES. SHE WAS TOTALLY BURNT OUT & DRIFTED UNTIL GROUNDING ABOUT 1M OFF GUYANA SHORE OF CORENTYN R ENTRANCE. DECLARED TOTAL LOSS. (MSD).
