Simplified Wreck Survey

The shipwreck Anlaby is located at 56 11.312 N, 2 33.791 W near the Isle of May, Scotland. Historical records indicate the vessel went aground on rocks north of West Landing. The wreck site is significantly degraded, consisting of a well-broken structure with only the iron ribs of the keel and a large 4-bladed iron propeller remaining. Previous surveys have noted the remains are partially buried under rock falls. While some historical reports suggested a north/south orientation, other surveys identified the wreckage lying east/west with the bow facing the island. Extensive searching in the area during 1994 failed to relocate the remains, suggesting the site is highly dynamic and significantly deteriorated.
