Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Anglo Dane rests off the coast of Shetland, Scotland, at coordinates 60 06.502 N, 01 07.566 W. This underwater obstruction, historically recorded as a wreck site, is situated in a general depth of approximately 68 to 69 meters. The site provides significant historical interest, with the main wreckage lying with its bow facing north. The structural condition of the Anglo Dane is well broken; the bow section has been completely detached forward of the boiler and lies nearby on a sandy seabed. Key features identified at the site include a winch remaining in place, a slightly dislodged boiler resulting from an explosion, and the ship's propeller, which remains attached. While the decking and upper works have deteriorated, items such as crockery bearing the DFDS crest and green glass beer bottles have been recovered from the holds, which are currently filled with coal dust and sludge. This wreck site serves as a notable underwater feature for maritime historians and remains a recognized obstruction in the local nautical charts.
