UK Hydrographic Office wreck report for the shipwreck Yin Jui Shying No.12 also known as Yin Ruey Shiang No.12 located in the Indian Ocean within the Chagos Archipelago region. The exact wreck coordinates are 5 12.35 S, 72 27.233 E. Historical survey records from 1975 to 2001 document the gradual deterioration of the vessel from an initial grounding. The stranded ship orientation lies east to west on a heading of 085 degrees. Aerial and marine surveys by naval vessels including HMS Falmouth and HMS Edinburgh detailed the structural decline where the superstructure and main decking largely disappeared over time. By 1997, GPS examinations recorded four corroded steel posts projecting two to three feet out of the water representing the remains of the bridge structure, while the foredecks remain beaten down to the reef level and well submerged. The remaining structure lies in approximately 30 feet of water and the site is officially charted as a dangerous underwater wreck.

NOTED AS BEING FOUR CORRODED STEEL POSTS 2-3FT OUT OF WATER [TIDAL HT 0.8MTR]. POST WERE REMAINS OF BRIDGE STRUCTURE WHICH WAS SUBMERGED BY 4-6FT. BRIDGE WAS TOWARDS THE STERN OF THE VESSEL, WHICH NOW LIES IN THE DEEPER WATER. ALL BRIDGE STRUCTURE ABOVE BRIDGE DECK LEVEL, APART FROM THE POSTS, IS MISSING. THE FOREDECKS ARE BEATEN DOWN WITH THE LEVEL OF THE REEF & WELL SUBMERGED. STRUCTURE BELOW & BEHIND THE BRIDGE DECK IS RELATIVELY INTACT & LIES IN ABOUT 30FT OF WATER. (A MCDONNELL, FAX DTD 26.2.97).
