Simplified Wreck Survey

The Waterloo is a charted underwater wreck located in the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India, along the shipping channel toward the Bay of Bengal at coordinates 22 11.915 N, 88 3.785 E. According to UK Hydrographic Office surveying details and Indian navigational charts, the obstruction was initially marked in January 1937 by a green conical wreck buoy. In August 1949, navigational aids were upgraded to a white conical flashing light buoy. By June 1978, Indian chart 3011 recorded the wreck site marked by a white conical light buoy flashing every seven seconds (Fl. 7s) near 22 11 54 N, 88 03 58 E. The obstruction was officially charted under the name Waterloo in September 1991. Later hydrographic survey revisions, including Indian chart 3013 in October 2004, confirmed the Waterloo wreck position near 22 11.875 N, 88 03.915 E, marked by an active white conical light buoy flashing every seven seconds to alert commercial vessels and maritime traffic navigating this river waterway.
