Simplified Wreck Survey

The S.L HATIVA is a charted underwater shipwreck and maritime obstruction located in the waters of the Hooghly River near the West Bengal coastline of India, positioned at coordinates 22 11.374 N, 88 7.26 E along the northern approaches to the Bay of Bengal. First documented by hydrographic surveys on August 11, 1949, the vessel was recorded as a stranded wreck at coordinates 22 11 17 N, 88 07 24 E on Survey E8452. Although temporarily removed from navigation charts following a survey on December 7, 1959, the site was reinstated as a submerged dangerous wreck on June 9, 1978, positioned at 22 11 22 N, 88 07 25 E on Indian Chart 3011. Subsequent hydrographic updates on September 26, 1991, verified the dangerous wreck at 22 11 15 N, 88 07 23.5 E on Indian Chart 3013. Modern navigational charts, including updates on December 6, 2006, plot this submerged hazard at 22 11.324 N, 88 07.393 E on Indian Chart 3006 and British Admiralty Chart BA 135, marking it as a critical underwater obstruction for maritime navigation in the Hooghly shipping channel.
