The shipwreck Villar is located at coordinates 24 36.392 N, 67 6.108 E. The vessel originally ran aground on a soft seabed in July 1990 and was subsequently abandoned by its owners. Following extensive salvage operations, including cargo lightening and towing by tugs, the vessel was refloated on November 30, 1990.

ABANDONED BY CREW 11 DAYS LATER. REFLOATED 30.11.90 AFTER CARGO REMOVED. TOWED TO COLOMBO & EVENTUALLY SOLD TO INDIAN SHIPBREAKERS FOR DEMOLITION. (MSD)
