Simplified Wreck Survey

The underwater wreck of the German submarine U 761 is located in the Mediterranean Sea near the Strait of Gibraltar off the coast of Spain and Morocco at coordinates 35 56.82 N, 5 44.98 W. Historical hydrographic survey records note that the site was initially investigated following reports in May 1947, with subsequent chart evaluations in August 1985 noting a depth of 285 meters that was considered too deep for standard navigation charting. Further archival data from November 1992 reference a general depth of 151 meters based on Russian hydrographic charting.
