The site features an intact submarine wreck lying in a general water depth of 28 meters with a least multibeam depth of 25.66 meters. Structural descriptions from modern marine surveys indicate dimensions of approximately 40.2 meters in length, 8.6 meters in width, and a height of 2.16 meters, oriented at 261/081 degrees. The submarine lies partially on its side with an intact conning tower featuring an open hatch, an intact external casing in areas alongside collapsed sections revealing the pressure hull, and a direction finding aerial mounted forward of the tower. A surrounding scour measures 60 meters long and 1.5 meters deep. Historical search records note that a 1969 sonar and echosounder search by HMS Bulldog initially found nothing, while subsequent 1994 and 2016 multibeam and side-scan sonar examinations confirmed the exact wreck position and structural integrity.
