NORWEGIAN NAVY COASTAL DEFENCE SHIP, BUILT 1897 BY ARMSTRONG WITH TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINES OF 4,500HP. FELL INTO HANDS OF GERMANS WHEN THEY INVADED NORWAY IN APR '40, WHO MANNED HER WITH GERMAN CREW, RENAMED HER NYMPHE, & REARMED HER FOR USE AS AN ANTI-AIRCRAFT SHIP WITH TWO 8.2IN, 6 4.7IN, EIGHT 3IN & 2 1PDR GUNS. IN THE SPRING OF 1945 SHE WAS BOMBED & SUNK BY BRITISH AIRCRAFT. (DODS)
