Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Tapti is an underwater obstruction located at the coordinates 56 33.841 N, 6 37.671 W, situated near the east shore of Soa Island, Scotland. This historic wreck site lies in approximately 19 meters of water with a recorded least depth of 14.98 meters. Historical survey data indicates the wreck is broken into four distinct parts, a result of significant structural damage including a major explosion in the engine room. Over the decades, the site has deteriorated substantially, with the bow section once noted as lying on its port side. The vessel is oriented on a 020/200 degree axis and is known for producing a strong magnetic anomaly, making it difficult to distinguish from the surrounding rocky seabed. While non-ferrous metals and the propeller were salvaged in the late 1950s, the remaining structure is heavily encrusted with marine life, including soft coral and plumose anemones. Measuring approximately 27.9 meters in length and 13 meters in width, the Tapti site remains a notable underwater feature for maritime researchers and divers. Additional reports suggest the presence of multiple wreckage sections and secondary debris in the immediate vicinity of this position.
