Simplified Wreck Survey
The underwater wreck of the vessel SOISIC is located in the English Channel off the south coast of England, near the approaches to the Solent and Bracklesham Bay at coordinates 50 41.385 N, 0 54.572 W. First surveyed in July 1993 using DGPS, radar, and acoustic sweeps, the site was originally marked by a South Cardinal light buoy. A follow-up inspection in 1994 determined the vessel was extensively broken down, with diver surveys confirming that only the engine and a few structural frames remained, projecting approximately one meter above the seabed in water depths of around 12 to 14 meters. Following these findings, the navigation marker buoy was discontinued. By 2003, hydrographic records indicated the remains could only be detected by magnetometer, leading to its classification as foul ground. A subsequent multibeam sonar survey conducted in 2018–2019 found no trace of the wreckage, prompting the UK Hydrographic Office to update the record status to dead, indicating the remaining structure has completely dispersed, broken down, or become buried beneath seabed sediments.
