Simplified Wreck Survey
Underwater wreck and obstruction survey details for a site located at 50 40.297 N, 0 56.71 W, situated in the English Channel near the Nab Tower. This site features a historic shipwreck described as a small, broken wooden steamship. Archaeological finds include a boiler approximately 10 feet high, a single 4-bladed propeller with a 7-foot diameter, and a ceramic dish marked for the United States Line. Survey history confirms the vessel lies in a general water depth of 16 meters. Recent multibeam sonar examinations indicate the obstruction measures 7.7 meters in length, 3.9 meters in width, and 2.6 meters in height, with an orientation of 115/295 degrees. The official least depth of the obstruction is recorded at 14.77 meters. Historical surveys conducted between 1969 and 2019 have tracked the decay and exact positioning of this wreck, which was previously identified by diver surveys and sonar contacts in the vicinity of the Nab Tower.
