Simplified Wreck Survey
The historical survey and wreck details for the shipwreck SIERRA GRANDE located at coordinates 51 23.817 N, 4 12.47 E include a chronological record of depth and clearance changes over time. Initially reported as a wreck with a depth of 8.2 meters in 1959, its charted depth was subsequently updated to 8.5 meters in 1961 and a safe water depth of 9.2 meters in 1966. Although a proposal to expunge the wreck was made in 1970, it was later reassessed with a depth of 10.5 meters in 1982. Following clearance operations that took place between 1986 and 1987, the recorded safe water depth was adjusted to 11 meters and later to 12 meters in 1988, before the wreck was eventually removed from modern charts and designated as dead in 2002.
