The wreck of the ROSME is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of Sheerness, England, in the Thames Estuary at coordinates 51 33.724 N, 1 1.466 E. Originally identified as a shipwreck, extensive hydrographic surveys over several decades track its changing status. While initial records identified a wreckage with a well-defined peak, modern DGPS examinations conducted in August 2000 failed to detect the vessel on electronic sonar. The site is now considered to be a buried obstruction with a general water depth of 13.6 meters. Historical data notes a seabed composition of sand and previous measurements indicating the wreck has been swept clear at various depths over the years. Due to its current status as a buried hazard, it is charted as a foul area for maritime navigation.
