Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck known as the Rose of Lough Gill is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of Ireland in the Irish Sea at coordinates 53 10.967 N, 6 0.106 W. Originally sinking in October 1995 near the Moulditch Buoy, the site underwent multiple hydrographic surveys and position amendments by the UK Hydrographic Office, Department of Marine Ireland, and Commissioners of Irish Lights. Initially marked by a danger buoy that was later removed following wreck dispersal efforts, the marine site was accurately relocated using DGPS during surveys between 1999 and 2005. The underwater wreck measures approximately 10.5 meters in length, 4.5 meters in width, with a height of 3 meters, lying on an orientation of 055/235 degrees. The structure is generally intact, resting within a scour hole at a general seabed depth of 26 meters, with a verified least depth over the wreck recorded at approximately 23.45 meters.
