Simplified Wreck Survey
The historic shipwreck Rosa is located at coordinates 54 7.949 N, 0 6.495 W near North Landing on the Yorkshire coast. Official hydrographic records document this underwater obstruction as the remains of an old-type small Admiralty fuelling vessel featuring a very tall funnel aft. Historical survey notes indicate the wreck and its cargo were originally sold in May 1930. Subsequent marine inspections describe the wreckage as heavily broken and wedged between coastal rocks close to the base of the cliffs at low water, where parts of the boiler and metal plating remain visible. Due to the challenging surrounding topography and local coastal seabed conditions, comprehensive surveying of the wreck has been restricted, and the site is classified as foul ground.

(CP DEPARTMENT, PRINCES HOUSE, 16.5.30). H3111/68 23.10.68 VESSEL MAY BE AN ADMIRALTY FUELLING VESSEL BUT IS DEFINITELY AN OLD TYPE. VERY TALL FUNNEL AFT. (P BAKER, 19.10.68). H1310/87/15 19.5.87 SMALL ADMIRALTY FUELLING VESSEL. PARTS OF HER BOILER AND PLATES CAN BE SEEN AT LW WEDGED BETWEEN THE ROCKS. (A GODFREY, 11.3.87). HH090/730/01 19.12.97 WRECKAGE OBSERVED WEDGED BETWEEN THE ROCKS AS PREVIOUSLY NOTED. DUE TO SURROUNDING TOPOGRAPHY IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO SURVEY THE WK. (GARDLINE, HI 730). INS AS FOUL. BR STD. 23.7.09 RECORD REVIEWED. CLOSE TO BASE OF CLIFFS. AMEND FOR FILING ONLY. NCA.
