Simplified Wreck Survey
The shipwreck Phryne is an underwater obstruction located off the coast of Suffolk, near Aldeburgh in the North Sea, at precise coordinates 52 9.457 N, 1 42.741 E. Sunk during World War II in September 1939 following enemy action, historical hydrographic surveys and modern marine examinations by the UK Hydrographic Office show the wreck is broken and partially buried. Recent seabed surveys record the dimensions of the wreck as 68.5 meters in length, 14.1 meters in width, and 3.3 meters in height, resting in a general water depth of 13 meters with a least water clearance depth of 11.5 meters. The site features a noticeable scour hole and lies oriented along a 002/182 degree axis.
