Simplified Wreck Survey

The historic shipwreck Horden is located off the coast of East Anglia in the North Sea at coordinates 52 8.462 N, 1 42.092 E. Initially discovered with two masts visible and marked by a buoy, the site has a long survey history dating back to 1921 when a 30-foot sounding was recorded. Over the decades, naval surveys by vessels such as the HMS Myrmidon and HMS Scott recorded variable depths, including a swept clearance of 37 feet and a scour of 70 feet. Later sonar and multibeam surveys conducted in 1985 and 2016 failed to locate the wreck, leading surveyors to conclude that the remains are now deeply buried within the seabed sands and the wreck is classified as dead.
