Simplified Wreck Survey

Underwater wreck located at 54 38.059 N, 0 59.499 W off the coast of North Yorkshire near the River Tees estuary. This submerged obstruction was historically associated with the vessel Teesdale, which foundered two miles off Bolt Head. A 2016 multibeam survey failed to locate the wreckage at this position, suggesting the site is now clear or the remains are significantly dispersed. The record remains retained for historical filing purposes.

BUILT IN 1904 BY ROPNER & SON. OWNED AT TIME OF LOSS BY SIR R ROPNER & CO. TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINES, 258NHP. PASSAGE GIBRALTAR FOR THE TYNE, BUT PROCEEDING TO THE TEES FOR REPAIRS. FOUNDERED. (LLWW1, DODS).
